Hello, crafty friends! Today’s card was inspired by the beautiful colors in the Scrapbook.com Harvest paper pad. I instantly fell in love with the non-traditional fall color scheme.

The first thing I did was pull out my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide color chart to figure out what colors would match. I was able to match all eight colors in the pad, but ended up satisfied with these six: Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce, Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber, Crackling Campfire, & Tattered Rose.

Once my ink blending was done I used glitter paste over a floral stencil. I searched high and low in my stash for something with fall leaves on it, but I was out of luck. I have my eyes open for the new oak leaves stencil coming soon though.

Once my card panel was dry I trimmed it to 4″x5.25″ and stitched a decorative border around it. I then went back to my Harvest paper pad and selected four colors out of which I cut several strips of paper. (I actually made strips with eight of the colors, but it was getting out of hand. I had to make some executive decisions, and it wasn’t easy. I always want all the colors!)

Since I was going to adhere these over the textured glitter, I opted to first glue my strips onto a scrap piece of printer paper. At that point, I was able to wrap it around like a sash. I did use a bit of liquid glue over the glittered areas, but also used some stronger tape on the back for extra security before adding it to my A2 card base with foam adhesive for some dimension.

I used my nesting circle dies to cut a piece of vellum one size larger than the sentiment I chose and adhered it with liquid glue only in the center where it would be hidden. After heat embossing my sentiment in gold, I fussy trimmed it and added it with a bit more foam adhesive along with a few loops of thread.

I didn’t have much in my stamps & die stash in the way of fall images, but I did manage to find this sweet pumpkin spice mug sticker. When I went back to see if I could order more, I stumbled across a cute fall bear, fox, scarecrow, raccoon, and pumpkin which I happily adopted and should arrive on my doorstep soon. Ha!

For the finishing touches I added blobs of glitter and spatterings of white pigment ink mixed with frost ink refill and a dab of water. I really should have splattered the white paint on before the glitter, so I wouldn’t have had to be so careful. I was just going with the creative flow though. I didn’t want any paint on my sticker or stripes, so I just covered it loosely with some scrap paper before flicking paint everywhere, and it turned out just fine.
