Welcome, crafty friends! Today I’m sharing the first of my three projects created using this month’s Catherine Pooler Designs Club Sursee stamps & dies. Let me show you how this sweet little notecard came together…
Step 1: Color & Cut
To start, I stamped & die cut the little elephant image from the Love-a-Phants stamp set using Twilight ink.
I then used a frame from the Scallops & Dots die set to visualize the layout of my card front before stamping the sentiment and creating a highlight spot using a blending brush and Minted ink.
I added a splattering of inks to the background in Flirty Fuchsia ink as well as a pretty shimmer.
Once everything was dry, I went ahead and die cut the frame.
Step 2: Build a Base
Next, I took a piece of floral patterned paper and die cut a tag from the center. (This area will be covered up, and I can use the pretty tag on something else later.) I then secured the floral paper directly onto my card base.
I layered a piece of vellum under the inked background panel and trimmed it down, so just a small margin would be visible, and added it to the card front using foam adhesive.
Step 3: Finishing Touches
I added foam tape behind the elephant and a several loops of variegated purple thread before securing it to the card front. Finally, I added a few Paris sequins and my card was finished!

When my parents first married and had me, we lived on the first floor of my grandmother’s house on Carson at the corner with Hackberry so Fort Sam area is our original neighborhood. My dad was 20 years older than my mother so he was a WWII Army veteran who landed on Normandy Beach and was present at the liberation of Paris. He was buried at Fort Sam National Cemetery with full military honors in 1996. (He would be 100 right now and I’m 52.) My mother is from Mexico so we don’t frequent Mexican restaurants very often. haha haha We eat and get chubby at home. 😂😂😂 If Covid ever dies and you come visit San Antonio, we’ll meet for dinner at Mi Tierra. Deal?
