Easter Peeps Card Set

Hello! Hello! I am back to share another project created with the new “Celebrate Spring” collection from Catherine Pooler Designs which launched this week! If you missed my first card, you can check it out HERE.

Let me show you how I created this little card duo…

Step 1: Stamp & Color

Since I used the rabbit image from the Hops & Peeps stamp set on my last card, I chose the chick image this time. I wanted to create a little row of peeping chicks across the front of my card. To get an idea of spacing before stamping it out, I laid out left over die cuts onto a piece of cardstock cut to 2.5″x5.5″.

Once I was happy with the placement, I used a pencil to lightly mark the spots and stamped away. You can see in the photo above I tried it with Twilight grey ink first, but wasn’t too sure about it, so I tried a few more colors in brighter spring hues…

On one panel I stamped the peeps all in Sauna ink. On the other I used Rose Petals, Tranquil, and Clay Mask. I liked how both options turned out, so I went ahead and made full cards for both.

I pulled a couple of die cut and stamped chicks from my little pile and colored them in with markers.

Step 2: Layer it Up

Next, I trimmed a piece of colored cardstock to 4″x5.5″ for each card. I also trimmed one 1″ wide strip and two .25″ wide strips of patterned paper for each card using the Mr Rabbit’s Garden patterned paper pack.

If you look closely, you’ll see I tore the edge of one strip on each card to reveal the white core. Once all the pieces were tacked in place, I stamped the sentiments.

Step 3: Stitch & Splatter

A bit of stitching was added for extra texture, and the chick faces were attached with foam tape.

As usual I felt like it needed something more, so I splattered several shades of ink over the cards resulting in a beautiful speckled egg effect. To ensure I didn’t muck up my coloring, I used the die cuts (flipped over) to protect the little chick faces during the process.

Alright, they’re done! Which one do you like best? I was leaning toward the yellow version at first, but now I think I’m more into the colorful one. I really can’t decide!

  1. These are just great, I love the stitching. The splatter reminds me of those robin egg candies, yum! Really enjoying all your cards with this stamp set!
