Cardmaking, Ink Blending, Thank You, Watercolor

Mar ’22 Club Sursee: Planted

Welcome, crafty friend! Today I’m sharing the first of several projects created using this month’s Catherine Pooler Designs Club Sursee stamps & dies. Let me show you how this little card came together…

Step 1: Set the Table

I started with an A2 (4.25″x5.5″) piece of watercolor paper. I then placed a piece of low tack tape horizontally across the paper about 2″ from the bottom and used a blending tool with a brown ink to create the “table” for my plants to sit on.

Step 2: Paint the Walls

I then moved the piece of tape down to cover the “table”, and ink blended above it with a blue ink to give the appearance of a wall or sky.

Step 3: Die Cutting

I die cut the ink blended piece using the Postage Stamp die set.

Step 4: Splatter

I laid the background piece down into my craft room waste bin, so I could splatter bits of paint and ink across the background without fear of creating a huge mess.

Step 5: Color & Cut

Next, I stamped several images from the “Planted” stamp set, colored them in with watercolors, and die cut them out with the coordinating die set.

Step 6: Plan & Stamp

I positioned a couple of the plant images where I thought they looked best and laid out the sentiment stamp to ensure everything would work nicely together before stamping it in black ink.

Step 7: Create Layers

The card base I chose is a top folding A2 card which measures 4-1/4″”x5-1/2″ when folded in half. The patterned mat layer was taken from the “Wallpaper” paper pack and is trimmed just slightly smaller at 4-1/8″x5-3/8″. A decorative stitch border was added to the top panel

Step 8: Put it all Together

The patterned paper was adhered directly on top of the card base while the main panel and plants were attached with foam adhesive. For the final touch, I added a few sequins and highlights to the plants with a white gel pen.
