Pinkfresh Studio April 2022 Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Welcome!

Hello! Hello! I’m so glad you’re here, because I have something extra special to share today. I am honored to be joining Pinkfresh Studio for a blog hop in celebration of their newest release.

What’s a blog hop?

If you’re not familiar with a blog hop, let me explain… Pinkfresh Studio has challenged several of our crafty friends to create projects with the new release. Each one of us has made something special, and we’ve all posted it at the same time. We will each link to the next blogger, so you can hop along in a circle to see each one like a virtual parade! It’s so very fun. There are also giveaways! I’ll share more details here in a bit, but for now let’s get on with the project tutorial…

Step 1: Background

I started by ink blending shades of blue from lightest to darkest starting in the center and moving outward on a piece of white cardstock trimmed to 4.25″x5.5″ (A2). The colors used were Sky Blue, Summer Shower, and Seaside. (Your inks will look splotchy at first, keep going until you have a nice rich color and know they will blend together more as the ink is pulled into the paper and dries.)

I die cut the background with the new Floral & Diamond Tiles die and trimmed the panel down so it would fit behind the white frame I die cut using the Stitched Scallop Rectangles die set.

Step 2: Stenciling

Next, I used the Simplest Gestures Stencil Set to create the bouquet. I used a heavier hand or deeper color to create more depth & shading on the leaves & flowers. I also used a low-tack tape to cover certain areas of the blooms in order to create a multi-colored bouquet.

The inspiration for the palette I chose came from a vibrant Peachy Keen Superbena I recently fell in love with at our local garden center. There were so many amazing hybrid & variegated varieties, but this one is my favorite.

Stencil 1 – Grassy Knoll & Meadow Inks
Stencil 2 – Coral Reef & Passion Fruit
Stencil 3 – Raspberry Bliss, Passion Fruit, Lemon Whip, & Peach Fuzz
Stencil 2 – Clementine & Apricot
Stencil 2 – Sweet Mustard & Marigold
Stencil 4 – Raspberry Bliss & Clementine

Step 3: Stamp & Cut

At this point I debated on whether or not to use the hot foil stamp, stamp in black, or stamp and emboss in gold. As you can see, I ended up stamping it in black ink, because I felt like I didn’t need anymore fuss to be stunning.

Step 4: Assembly

I secured the blue ink blended background to a top folding A2 card base then used foam adhesive to attach the frame. A sentiment was selected from the new Rainbow Sentiments Ephemera pack because it was the perfect shade and size. To give it a bit of a frame, I popped it up onto a vellum circle.

I wanted the sentiment placed right in the middle of the ink blended area where the color was lightest creating a halo effect. To create balance above and below, I carefully trimmed the bouquet into two pieces. I also die cut several vellum leaves using the Curvy Leaves Die set.

Just before I went to start attaching all of the elements, I felt compelled to add ink splatter in white and clear shimmer to the background. I just can’t help but do this to almost every project. It adds a subtle sparkle that enhances the glowing halo effect even more.

Step 5: Final Touches

After all the elements were attached with foam tape, I added matte silver pearls, a few white highlights, and painted on a bit more shimmer ink.

And there you have the finished card! I really hope you like it.
