Heat Embossing, Ink Blending, Tags and Gifts

Summer Nights Tag Trio

Hey! Hey! I’m here today to share this cute tag trio tutorial using the new “Summer Nights” collection from Catherine Pooler Designs! If you’d like to see how I started this collection mini series, check out the first one HERE.

Here’s how I created this today’s project…

Step 1: Die Cuting

Using the Hearts-n-Tags die set, I cut out several tags in various cardstock colors I thought matched well with the Wallpaper patterned paper pack I’ve been using.

Step 2: Ink Blending

To jazz up the tag bases, I used several shades of ink and a foam blending tool to create an ombre background on each tag.

Step 3: Splatter

Next, I used a white pigment ink as well as a clear shimmer ink to add splatter.

Step 4: Layout & Layering

Once the tags were dry, I selected a few gold embossed moth images I had left over from my first project, and I began to play around with the layout for each tag. I ended up punching out 2″ circles of vellum for each tag and also die cut a second set of tags with the leftover patterned paper.

Step 5: Embellishments

Once I was satisfied with the layout for each, I attached the tag sets to one another with eyelets then secured the vellum circle with a dot of liquid glue. A bit of foam adhesive was placed behind each moth followed by a nest of gold thread before securing over the vellum. Finally, a few matching sequins were added as well as tassels and ribbon.

And that’s it! Do you like making tags? What kind of gift would you attach these to?

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you’ll come back again soon. If you’d like to see more now, please visit me on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.

Until next time… stay crafty!
