Sending Good Vibes

Hello, crafty friend! I’m back again to share another little card created using the latest release from Catherine Pooler Designs. If you missed the first one, check it out HERE. Okay, let’s get started…

Step 1: Planning

To start, I picked out a few flowers I had stamped before making the first card. I settled on one taller and one shorter.

I picked out this oval cut piece I had left over from several projects back. It was created using a set of nested oval dies and dotted frame dies. It measures 3.25″x4.5″, so I trimmed down a side fold card to 3.5″x4.75″ to give it a nice matted layer. I also trimmed out one of the sentiment strips I had from the last project and cut each word into separate strips, so I could stack them.

Step 2: Ink Blending

Next, I traced the oval with a pencil, so I would know where to place my ink blending. I wanted it to fade to white as it reached the top of the window.

Step 3: Loads of Foam

Once the ink blending was done, I set it to the side, so the ink could settle out. Adhesive foam strips were added to the mat window layer as well as any areas of the die cut pieces which would hang over into the open window.

(Note: This layout would make for a great shaker card. If you’d like to do that, consider adding ink splatters at this point then secure a piece of acetate to the back of the oval window before adding foam tape. Then use regular ‘flat’ adhesive on the remaining pieces.)

Step 4: Embellishments

Before placing the window layer down, I wrapped a piece of white twine around the lower third. (If you’re doing a shaker, you’ll want to put sequins or beads down too.)

A bit of splatter was added with white pigment ink as well as a bit of sparkly ink. A bow and sequins were added with liquid adhesive, and the sentiment strips were secured with foam tape.
